Custom binders made in Seattle

Nearly every custom binder sold in this country is made in the Midwest or on the East Coast, then trucked here. The nearest other manufacturers to Seattle are in Southern California. We are in Kent, twenty miles south of downtown, and we have been doing precision paper work at this address since 1919. If you buy binders or index tabs in the Puget Sound region, you are buying them from a plant you can drive to.

Why local matters on this particular product

A binder is mostly air. A skid of 3-inch D-ring binders is bulky, light, and expensive to move, which is why freight is a real line on a national binder invoice and why it gets worse the bigger the ring. Buying from Kent takes that line off the job. It also takes the transit leg off the calendar: our production clock is 10 business days, and from Kent a Seattle, Tacoma, or Bellevue delivery is measured in days, not a week. Portland and Spokane are short hauls. Nothing sits on a truck crossing the Rockies while your event date moves.

The second thing local buys you is the floor itself. You can come see the plant and put your hands on physical samples before you commit a program to a spec sheet. Local pickup can be arranged — ask when you order. And when you call, you reach the floor that runs the job, not a call center two time zones from the equipment.

What we make here

Binders. Heat-sealed vinyl with 1-color screen print or foil, turned-edge casemade binders in full color, entrapment binders with a printed sheet under clear vinyl, and poly. Minimum is 25 units, setup is free, and standard vinyl, casemade, and folder specs are priced on the page; entrapment and poly prices we confirm in writing before production. The vinyl ladder, letter size, 1-inch round ring, two inside pockets:

QuantityPer binder
25+$15.95
50+$14.95
100+$12.75
250+$10.75
500+$9.95
1000+$9.65

Ring size adjusts from there — a half-inch round runs $0.60 less, a 2-inch adds $3.00, a 3-inch adds $5.75, and D-rings add $1.00. The full range and the other constructions are on the binders page.

Index tabs. Printed both sides, mylar-reinforced, punched with reinforced holes, and collated in set order so nobody assembles a bank by hand. 5-tab sets start at $5.25 per set at 25 and fall to $1.35 at 500; 8- and 10-tab banks, numbered sets, and A–Z banks are on the tabs page. Publishing tab prices at all makes us an outlier in this industry — most of the field quotes tabs by phone.

Presentation folders. 9x12, two pockets, full color, 14pt C2S with business-card slits. Minimum 100, $3.75 each at 100 and $1.10 at 1000. Details on the folders page.

Hospitality. Menu covers, check presenters, captain’s books, and guest directories for hotels and restaurants across the Northwest — durable constructions built to survive a dining room, not a shelf. See the hospitality page.

Who we serve in the Northwest

Seattle, Tacoma, Bellevue, Everett, and the rest of Puget Sound are our home market. Portland, Spokane, Vancouver WA, and Boise are regular ship-to points. The work runs the range of what a region like this does: law firms building closing sets, clinics with chart and policy manuals, school districts and universities, financial firms with client books, and restaurants and hotels up and down the I-5 corridor.

We also run trade work. Printers, agencies, and design shops in the region use us as their bindery and their binder source, with blind shipping available on request so the job lands under your name. That is on the trade page.

Reorders and files

Most Northwest accounts settle into a standing spec — house color, stamped mark, a standard tab bank — and reorder against it. We keep artwork, dies, and screens on file, so a repeat is one email and the 10-business-day clock, with no setup charge and nothing to rebuild. Overruns run plus or minus 10 percent and are invoiced as shipped, which is the trade standard and worth knowing before you count cartons.

How to order

Standard specs price instantly on the order page — pick the product, quantity, and ring size and the ladder price is on screen. Anything below minimum or outside the standard specs goes in as a quote request from the same form and comes back within business hours. Every job gets a free PDF proof before it runs. Art requirements are on the artwork page, common questions on the FAQ, and the history of the shop on the about page.

If you would rather see the plant than read about it, come to Kent. That is the whole argument for buying binders in your own time zone.
