Binders and tabs for financial and estate work
An estate plan goes in a drawer and comes out twenty years later, usually on the worst day of a family’s life. The binder is the only part of your work the client can hold, and it has to still be intact when it matters. We manufacture plan binders, client presentation books, and custom section tabs on a bindery floor in Kent, Washington that has been doing precision paper work since 1919 — and unlike most of this industry, our tab pricing is on the page.
What we build for financial and estate practices
Estate and financial plan binders. Turned-edge casemade construction with a foil-stamped spine and cover is the format for a document meant to be kept. A full-color litho wrap is laminated, wrapped over board, and turned at the edges — no heat seal to split, no exposed vinyl edge to peel after a decade in a safe or a file drawer. Short runs are our specialty. Most national converters price a 25-piece casemade order by phone or decline it outright; ours is on the published ladder:
| Quantity (binders) | Per binder |
|---|---|
| 25+ | $15.50 |
| 50+ | $14.75 |
| 100+ | $11.75 |
| 250+ | $9.95 |
| 500+ | $8.95 |
| 1,000+ | $8.50 |
That’s a 1” round ring, letter size. Larger rings carry a published adder — a 2” round is $3.00 more per binder, a 3” round $5.75, and D-rings add $1.00 and hold more paper at the same nominal size. Twenty-five binders is our minimum; below that, call before you promise a date to a client.
Client presentation and review books. For quarterly reviews, prospect packages, and onboarding kits — the books that circulate rather than get archived — vinyl is the workhorse. Heat-sealed rigid vinyl with a one-color foil-stamped or screen-printed mark, two inside pockets, runs $15.95 each at 25 units, $12.75 at 100, and $10.75 at 250. When the cover needs full color, or needs to carry a different advisor or client name on each copy, entrapment does it: a printed sheet sealed under clear vinyl, variable copy per cover, no new setup for the name change. Entrapment currently runs $16.50 at 25 and $13.75 at 100 — that price is market-accurate but hasn’t cleared our final cost review, so call or email and we’ll confirm it in writing for your job before production. See the FAQ for what “call to confirm” means and which products it covers.
Tab sets for plan sections. Trust, Wills, Powers of Attorney, Beneficiary Designations, Titling, Statements — printed both sides, mylar-reinforced, three-hole punched, and collated in set order so nobody in your office assembles a bank by hand. Five-tab sets run $5.25 at 25 sets and $2.30 at 100. Eight-tab sets are $7.75 at 25 and $3.45 at 100; ten-tab sets are $4.15 at 100. Custom banks run up to 12 tabs per set — full ladders are on the tabs page.
Firm-standard programs. Most practices settle on one spec and reorder against it: house binder in firm colors, foil die for the mark, a standard section bank, a standard ring size. We keep the artwork, the dies, and the screens on file indefinitely. A reorder is one email, and the ten-business-day clock starts when you confirm.
Why financial firms order from a bindery
Most binder suppliers in this market are resellers. The tab printing, the foil work, and the casemaking happen in three different shops on three different schedules, and nobody in that chain answers for the finished book. Here it is one floor and one job number.
Discretion is the other half. Blind shipping is available for firms ordering on behalf of clients — plain cartons, your name and your client’s address on the label, no Puget Bindery or Binder Makers markings, no packing slip with our name on it. Client names and section titles that pass through here for a variable-copy run stay here.
West Coast production matters on freight and transit both. Nearly every national binder converter ships from the Midwest or East Coast. Kent is one truck day from Seattle, Portland, and the Bay Area.
How to order
Standard specs price instantly on the order page — pick the product, quantity, and ring size, and the ladder price is on screen. Custom work and below-minimum quantities submit as a quote request from the same form and come back within business hours. Every job gets a free PDF proof before anything runs; send press-ready PDF and vector art for foil, per the artwork specs. Production is ten business days from your written proof approval, and we invoice what actually ships within a ±10% overrun tolerance.
